Female Menopause Symptoms – Expert Says Just Deal With It

by Laura Ramirez on July 26, 2011

Female menopause symptoms can disrupt your sleep and ultimately your health or just be aggravating and inconvenient. The symptoms vary with the woman and some women seem to go through the change of life much more seamlessly than others. For those who have difficulty, there are synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones, herbal remedies and other solutions that can help reduce symptoms. Still, one expert claims that rather than fight the symptoms, women should embrace the changes that menopause brings.

Nonetheless, moderate to severe menopause symptoms will affect almost 70 per cent of women in the UK with the physical effects making life unbearable.

Many of these women will be placed on HRT and, for many of them, this will help to manage symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats. However, for some women, a more natural approach may be suitable as there are less side-effects and contraindications.

Menopret, a black cohosh extract, was shown in a double blind crossover clinical study to be able to reduce oestrogen deficiency symptoms to the same degree as HRT, but without the same side effects.

Although I’m all for embracing menopause and the birth of the wise woman in each of us, I don’t agree that women should be left to suffer female menopause symptoms which in the very least, can rob you of much-needed sleep due to hot flashes and night sweats. I suffered through the symptoms without taking anything and it really took a toll on my health. Since hot flashes can last for 10 years or more, taking a natural remedy such as black cohosh which has been proven to be effective without any risk of side effects can be a good solution for most women.

As with any health advice, the ball is in your court. There are many ways to alleviate symptoms and it just comes down to choosing methods that work well with your beliefs and lifestyle. Although the menopausal years are a time of year to be embraced, those years do not need to be marred with symptoms that make life more difficult than it needs to be.ᅠ

How about you? What have you done to effectively relieve your symptoms? How do you feel about menopause in general?
